Arizona became the 13th state to legalize recreational cannabis for adults 21 and older when the state’s voters passed Prop 207 ("Smart and Safe Arizona") on November 3, 2020. Cannabis use, possession, and cultivation were officially legalized for adults 21 and older on November 30, 2020 when the Secretary of State approved the Prop 207 ballots. On January 22, 2021 dispensaries started legally selling cannabis to adults 21 and older. Adults can obtain up to one ounce of cannabis daily from a dispensary, with no more than 5 grams being concentrates (extracts). Cannabis use is not allowed in public places. Driving, flying or boating impaired to even the slightest degree is not allowed. The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) oversees the state's medicinal and recreational cannabis industries.
